British Film Study 2

Robin Hood 2010

The film is about Robin Hood and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village set in the 13th century England which lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. We can clearly see this relates to Britain as this film re – acts the moments that have happened way back in the past. The main characters in the film all have different nationalities, Russel Crowe from New Zealand, Cate Blanchett from Australia to Mark Strong who is British. Robin Hood is directed by British director Ridley Scott, other films that have been directed by Scoot are “Black Hawk Down” 2001 “Hannibal” 2001 and “Gladiator” 2000. The style of the film has been set in the past to retell the story. Robin Hood belongs to the genre of action adventure and drama this reminds me of the films “Braveheart” 1995 and “Dragonheart” 1996. the film was financed by Universal Pictures based in the USA founded in 1912 and was also promoted and distributed by Universal Pictures using trailers and adverts.

  1. Well done for comparing the film to other, similar, films. Why do you think the Robin Hood story has survived for so long? What does it say about British people and culture?

  2. Robin Hood story has survived for so long because it is our British history and a way to refer to the past. It was once part of our culture and how British people used to survive.
